12/9/13

Hei Hei!!!

Hey everybody! Good heck this was an awesome week.  So many little miracles and amazing things happened.  We had two people basically call in and ask to be members.  One called the office in oslo and said he wanted missionaries in his house, and the office called us. We went and visited him on friday. It was awesome.  He told us he's studied churches a bit, and wants to choose a church that he will be active in for ever.  He told us he believes our church is the church that actually worships Christ. ANd he already has a testimony of the book of mormon.  He had a friend who was on a whole bunch of drugs, and had a dream to join the mormon church.  He read the book of mormon, quit everything and ended up going on a mission.  So he said he knew the book of mormon was true. So that is awesome.  He hasn't read too much of it yet, but he promised he would.  HE used to drink but he's already quit that and just has to quit smoking now.  He believes that the book of mormon has the power to help him quit.  Its so cool!!! HE said he would come to church, but then he apparently got a visitor and couldn't come... Next week though! The other referral texted our bishop and said hey I want to be a member of your church. But I'm deaf. Is that alright? SO bishop sent us his number and everything.  We gave him to the sisters though.  But apparently he's really cool and super positive. Just deaf. SO they're learning norwegian sign language.  I was a little bummed I didn't get to teach him, but we felt that was right.  SO that was awesome.  SO many good things happening with that! We had a chinese guy we taught too named ***, who's here to teach a martial arts class.  He's way cool. There was a giant wind storm that day, so he hung out with us in our teaching apartment for a while watching the storm.  We watched one guy get thrown into the road on his stomach by the wind. Another got knocked off his bike, Several destroyed umbrellas, and one traffic light pole fell over.  It was really cool. It was kinda snowing at the same time, but it was literally completely sideways.  It was awesome. I tried taking a picture, but it didn't work.  We got about 6 inches of snow this week. Then it rains, and then snows..... And then it all becomes slush and then freezes. Its crazy.  It gets dark by 415 ish here.  Kinda sad. But we don't see the sun much anyway because it's always cloudy. We also taught this american lady named *** on friday which was the coolest teach me or elder w have ever had.... But that is due to more miracles that led up to it.  :) I ll just start at the beginning of this one. Last wednesday (like two weeks ago) ** sent us a text asking about the status of his records. We said they were still in existence and he'd have to contact bishop himself. He basically said ok cool. THen adios. So we thought that was the last of him.  Then he came to sport on that friday.  We were amazed. and wondering.  Then on tuesday last week, we got a text asking if we still had the book of mormon we signed for him. We said yes and he asked if he could have it back.  We were going nuts. It probably wasn't too good, because we were in the middle of ward council.  But we were pumped.  So wednesday  morning we went to his apartment to give it back to him. We were kind of expecting just a drop off and then leave, but he invited us in and we just sat and talked for about an an hour and a half.  Nothing really about the gospel, but just being chill.  We went and looked at this church that's been around since the vikings with him.  Then he said he wanted to take us to see an old castle. So we were excited that he thought of us as friends again.  SO yeah.  THen wednesday night, his home teachers went and visited him.  That was amazing. He was apparently really open to them, said he wanted to be a home teacher himself when he was back in the states.  His home teachers told us this. We were excited but still a little hesitant.  Thursday we ran into him on the bybane and talked to him for like 30 minutes.  THat was good.  Everyones been running into him all over the place except for us. Now that we were cool again, and he has the book back we've seen him every day.  But then friday was the coolest.  We had our teach with the american lady, ***. We were excited because she is way cool.  And positive.  But we needed a member to go with us because, its a rule.  We tried every male in the ysa, and the ward to get them to come with us. Every single one happened to be busy at that time.  We were thinking we might have to cancel. But then, elder W remembered, wait ** is a member..... We could take him. We were really hesitant at first.  But after lots of prayers, and still nobody else to go with us, we decided to ask him.  We asked and he was like ya of course.  We were still a little nervous. But we shouldn't have been.  He made jokes about mormon standard time about us because we were a little late to meet up with him. THen we went to the teach.  It was AMAZING.- Him and *** were basically bearing testimony to each other.  He was talking about how sometimes you get knocked down a step, but when you get up, you go up two.  He was talking about his baptism, and bore testimony about the book of mormon.  She had him say the prayer at the end, and it was just awesome.  We, by other miracles, taught the plan of salvation. WHich was something ** didnt completely believe before.  But it was awesome.  The spirit was so strong, and it was just fantastic.  There was nothing that couldve been better about it.  So ** has been on a teach with the missionaries now, as a member.  And that night he came to sport again, and saturday we went to the old castle thing. SUnday he came to church again and loved it.  Today he hung out with us a bit, but tomorrow he goes to england and then poland for a few weeks. He'll be back here on the 22nd but then leaves to america the 23rd.  So todays basically the last day with him. We are going to call his bishop in america next week.  Im excited for that.  We haven't really talked about what happened much.  He talked about how he did feel bad to his home teachers.  Even some guy asked him friday night to come to a party with beer in his hand as he was walking with us to the church.  He is so strong though!!!  I don't know what I'm going to write about anymore.... ** will be gone haha. ITs just been crazy.  So cool though.  THat was fantastic though.  So many miracles. SO many things that the Lord does for us.  Satan makes his blows but God wins in the end.  THe ward had a special fast for ** and two other recent converts that haven't been to church for a while.  I am sure this all came because of that. And your guys prayers! I am really so grateful for them! THe power of prayer is real! God is real! He want to help! Its so amazing to see all this... There are times though, mom, where I get home and I just feel like, wow I wish I could talk to mom now.. I miss those talks!  But I am doing awesome! The ward here is finally getting excited about missionary work! We have basically decided bergen has been cursed, and we are taking it off.  There were only 3 baptisms this last year. Now the ward is super excited about missionary work again, and all the missionaries have several positive investigators. Its amazing. We keep saying we have finally cracked bergen! THe work is going and its awesome! I am loving it! I just really hope I don't get moved right after christmas... Its not likely but it could happen.  I'd be sad if any of the missionaries moved out. THere are the 8 of us. And we call ourselves the band of misfits, cuz we are all so different but we all get along so well. It's awesome.  Bergen is amazing. I am loving my mission. I hope you guys are all doing great! I love you!!!!!! Keep praying! It really works!!!!But to answer your questions real fast.... What got me excited? I don't really know..... It's just always seemed cool.  Seeing tanner on his did for me. And just knowing that I could help other people experience the joy that I have had my entire life, even if I didn't always realize it.  We are invited for dinner sometimes.  We asked them to only do it on sundays from now on though, because we don't have time. Especially since most members live at least an hour away.... We have huge ward boundaries.  BUt its always good food.  Anyway! Love you all! see you in two and a half weeks!!!
