Daylight savings already? Thats no fun. Sunday naps were nice. I kinda miss those haha. Hopefully you got to go to bed early.
You guys had a fun trip. And it looks warm!!! I haven't seen that in a long time. I cant wait for warm sunny weather. I saw the sun yesterday. And the day before. Hopefully it will come out a little later today. ha The weather has been weird. Lots of dark clouds. You never know if its going to rain or not. SO I basically just always wear my rain jacket in case it does. And sometimes a scarf if its colder. I never knew how nice scarfs were!! Thats nice to have tanner home for a bit.
I probably won't retake the driving test. IF you fail the first test, you have to take some classes and then pay for the test and it just costs a ton of money. SO if missionaries fail the test, they just don't take it again. ha. So i don't get to drive until I am home. But that's alright. :) Driving in norway is scarier. THe roads are super narrow and they have rules that are different. Like you have to yield to anybody turning onto the road from the right. IT's weird. ha but ah well.
Porsgrunn is way different from Bergen. ITs a lot smaller. A lot less area to contact in. A lot less people. At first i thought the people were really nice, but they don't seem to want to talk very much lately. IT has been a little rough lately trying to find people to teach. WE don't really have anybody right now that is progressing. WE are trying with ***. HEs an older guy living alone with his 10 yo son. HE's been taught for a few years, but he won't commit. WE tried being really bold, but he won't try. So we don't know exactly what to do with him. We have a couple others that we are trying to meet up with and teach, but they're all busy. So we are trying to contact and bank, and stuff. but nobody really seems too interested. Apparently president has said this is the hardest area to tract in. So we are trying. We are trying to think of other ways that we can do it. Members is the best option. THe bishop has great ideas, but we are trying to get the ward to put them into action. So that's kinda hard. But we are getting pretty good with the members. THey are awesome. THe members are way cool people. WE are trying to help them spread the gospel to their friends and neighbors and family. THere have been many meetings about trying to get them to do it. THere are members stepping it up, but others are taking some work. It's been kind of fun with that. IT's really cool to get to know the members. I think that thats one thing I am happy about being in a small ward and only having one ward. Missionaries and members get to know each other pretty well. So that's really nice. IT makes it harder to move around though haha. But we still have our goals. THe ward keeps telling us its a process. And we are saying, you want 14 baptisms, you've had one and its march.... ha but yeah. THat was one really cool thing that happened this week, was the sisters serving here had a baptism of a guy named ***. Hes from eritrea. HE's way cool. He's super quiet, but you could just see how happy he was after being baptized. Way cool guy.
But anyway. I hope jacobs talent show doesn't flop. Hopefully it does better than the one we tried last year... I thought it went alright. But could have been better. Hopefully the school picks up a little bit.
I am doing great. Still loving my mission. GRateful for the new shoes. ANd hopefully your package gets here, I heard that you couldn't send watches into norway.. :P so we'll see about that.
SOmething cool from studies this week though. I read a talk elder holland gave at byu a few years ago called remember lots wife. IT's awesome. SOme parts that really stuck out to me were about how with forgiveness and repentance we can't look back either. HEavenly father Forgot so we should forget it too. ANd when we forgive others, we should forget their past. HE talked about how reminding people of their past hurts them and stunts their progression. I thought that was really cool. No matter what background people come from, or what their life is, they have the potential to change and become better. They can become exactly what God needs them to be, but if they are hung up on things of the past, they will never reach it. They won't be able to move forward. A couple quotes i stole from it,
"Now, like the Anti-Nephi-Lehies of the Book of Mormon, bury your weapons of war, and leave them buried. Forgive, and do that which is harder than to forgive: Forget. And when it comes to mind again, forget it again."
"God doesn't care nearly as much about where you have been as He does about where you are and, with His help, where you are willing to go. "
ANyway. I thought they were really cool. Elder Holland is awesome. I just think that its amazing how we can go forward no matter whats happened as long as we are willing to move forward and try to be better. THe same with the people I try to teach. NO matter where they are in life, they have the potential and the ability to change. Just something I have been thinking about today. ANyway. HAve a fantastic week! I love you guys!!!!
